Urethane Spiders

Urethane coupling spiders are flexible elastomer inserts used in jaw couplings to transmit torque while absorbing vibration and accommodating minor shaft misalignment. Positioned between two jaw coupling hubs, spiders act as the flexible element that connects the hubs, reduces shock loads, and helps protect connected equipment from wear and damage.

Our tough orange polyurethane spiders ones deliver about 50% more torque than standard nitrile spiders in the same size. Excellent resistance to oils, chemicals, grease, and abrasion, with good damping for most applications. Ideal when you need higher loads without going up a coupling size

How They Work

In a jaw coupling assembly, the spider sits between two interlocking hubs. As torque is applied, the elastomer compresses and flexes between the jaws, transmitting rotational force while dampening vibration and helping accommodate small angular or parallel shaft misalignment. This design provides reliable torque transfer with minimal backlash and smooth operation.
